Co-op partners with CoBank to provide grants

Christian United Outreach of Lee County and Buddy Back Pack Program of Harnett County were both recently presented with $2,000 “Sharing Success” grants thanks to a partnership between Central Electric and CoBank.

The grants are part of CoBank’s “Sharing Success” program, which is an annual $3 million fund designed to match charitable donations by cooperatives to benefit nonprofit organizations in their local community. As a customer of CoBank, $1,000 grants provided by Central Electric to Christian United Outreach and Buddy Back Pack Program were selected to be matched through the program.

Christian United Outreach will be using the grant to help purchase food bags to provide weekend meals to children in the Lee County School System as a part of the Buddy Back Pack Program of Lee County.  The Buddy Back Pack Program of Harnett County will also be using their grant to provide food items for children in the Harnett County School System.

“Central Electric and CoBank are both delighted to support the commendable projects of these great organizations,” said Nancy Gust, Central Electric’s Director of Marketing and Member Services. “Their missions align with the cooperative’s core value, commitment to community, and we were very excited to support their projects.”
