Central Electric's Community College Scholarship Program
Another way Central Electric invests in our communities' futures is through our scholarship program. The program was established out of a desire to help students attend college who otherwise might not have the opportunity to continue their education. Each year scholarships are awarded to five students currently attending or planning to attend either Central Carolina Community College or Sandhills Community College. Scholarships are awarded based on scholastic achievement, extracurricular activities, a written essay and financial need. Applicants must be Central Electric members or children of members. They must also be full-time students and have a grade point average of at least 2.5 or above.
2025 Annual Meeting Scholarship
As part of the Annual Meeting of the Members, Central Electric will also award a $2,000 scholarship to a student who is attending a four-year college or university. The scholarship will be awarded to a Central Electric member or a child of a member and the winner will be selected through a random drawing during the Annual Meeting on Oct. 3. The application period opens on Jan. 1 and the deadline for entries is Sept. 15.
To apply for entry into the drawing, the student must meet the following eligibility requirements:
- Graduated high school in 2025.
- First-time college student attending a four-year post-secondary educational institution full-time during the 2025-26 academic year.
- Applicant must be a Central Electric member or a child of a member and the member must be in good standing for at least 12 consecutive months as of Sept. 1, 2025.

- Student and/or legal guardian MUST REGISTER for the 2025 Central Electric Annual Meeting on Oct. 3, 2025 by participating in the Director Election through either an online or mail-in ballot. The recipient will be announced during the meeting on Oct. 3.
All of these requirements must be met in order to qualify for the random drawing.
