Central helps fight summer hunger for kids
Lending a hand is part of who we are at Central Electric and recently, our employees took some time to support the mission of one of our local organizations, Harnett County Buddy Backpack.
Every weekend during the school year, this organization sends home backpacks containing food to at-risk students. However, when schools are out for the summer, getting food into the hands of these children is difficult. To help meet this need, our employees packed backpacks and provided a food pick-up at Johnsonville Elementary School for area children ages 3-18.
“It’s always great to give back our time and resources to aid local nonprofits who play such a vital role in our local community. Food insecurity is an on-going challenge in our communities and we wanted to find a way to help,” said CEO & General Manager, Eddie Oldham. “Organizations like Harnett County Buddy Backpack provide food for thousands of children during the school year, and we were happy to be able to assist them in getting food in the hands of at-risk children while schools were closed during the summer.” Central Electric and its employees welcome the opportunity to give back to the communities we serve.
