Central partners to build beds for children

Community is at the heart of who we are at Central Electric and recently, our employees took some time to support the mission of one of our local organizations, Sleep in Heavenly Peace in Moore County.

Sleep in Heavenly Peace (SHP) is a volunteer-driven nonprofit dedicated to building and delivering hand-made, fully furnished beds to children in need. SHP’s mission is to tackle childhood bedlessness, which is estimated to affect nearly 3% of the population.

“All children deserve to sleep in a real bed and we wanted to find a way to help,” said CEO & General Manager, Eddie Oldham. “SHP’s mission statement says, ‘No kid sleeps on the floor in our town!’ and we wanted to help make that statement a reality.”

In addition to building beds, Central Electric also provided Sleep in Heavenly Peace a check for $1,000 for the purpose of purchasing brand new twin mattresses, sheets, blankets, and pillows to be delivered along with the beds CEMC constructed. All children deserve a safe, comfortable place to lay their heads, and we are proud to partner with SHP to ensure this happens in our community.
