Manager's Message

POINT OF VIEW: Celebrating our members

From the desk of CEO & General Manager, Eddie Oldham

"We’re always looking for ways to operate more efficiently while delivering the friendly, reliable service you expect and deserve. After all, we’re your local co-op, built by the members we serve."

Autumn is a bustling season, and October is especially vibrant with the return of school, community, and sports activities in full force. It’s also the time when cooperatives nationwide celebrate National Co-op Month. When I say that Central Electric celebrates Co-op Month, it’s really about celebrating you! Our co-op exists because of you, our members.

While our primary role is to provide you with electricity, our broader mission is to enhance the quality of life in our community. One of the seven guiding principles of all cooperatives is “Concern for Community.” Just as our power lines run throughout our service area, our commitment to the community influences every decision we make—because being a co-op means being a responsible partner and a good neighbor.

We are dedicated to helping our community thrive through initiatives led by our employees and a local board made up of neighbors who live right here. Because we’re local, we understand the unique needs of our community and work hard to meet them.

We take pride in supporting local youth through programs like the Touchstone Energy Sports Camp, Youth Tour, Leadership Camp, and community college scholarships. With your support, Operation Round Up® provides aid to local nonprofit organizations. Our Bright Ideas grants fund innovative projects in our school systems, helping teachers inspire their students in new ways.

The word “cooperative” shares its roots with “cooperation,” which is all about people working together towards a common goal, benefiting each other and the broader community. That’s the heart of the cooperative spirit. Our employees and member-elected board members are deeply invested in the community where we live and serve.
Above all, as a co-op, we prioritize our members’ needs. As your trusted energy partner, we understand the importance of saving energy and money. That’s why we offer a variety of programs to help, including energy-efficiency rebates, loans, and tools to help you reduce your energy costs.

We also want to empower you to take control of your energy usage at home. If you haven’t already, I encourage you to visit our website at CEMCPower.com or download our app. Through the portal and app, you can easily monitor and manage your energy use. And of course, we’re here to assist you—don’t hesitate to call us with any questions about your energy bills.
We’re always looking for ways to operate more efficiently while delivering the friendly, reliable service you expect and deserve. After all, we’re your local co-op, built by the members we serve.

Until next time,
